Minnesota Tobacco Document Depository

During the course of the Minnesota Attorney General litigation, State of Minnesota, et al. v. Philip Morris, Inc., et al., No. C1-94-8565 (2d Dist. Minn.)(Ramsey County), the district court ordered the domestic parties to establish a document depository in Minnesota for the documents produced in that action. The depository is located in northeast Minneapolis in a business park.

The Minnesota Document Depository contains approximately 26 million pages of documents produced by Philip Morris USA, Inc.d, R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, Brown & Williamson Tobacco Corporation (individually and a successor by merger to The American Tobacco Company), Lorillard Tobacco Company, The Council for Tobacco Research-- U.S.A., Inc., The Tobacco Institute, Inc., and Liggett Group, Inc. during pre-trial discovery in State of Minnesota, et al. v. Philip Morris, Inc., et al. These documents relate to research, manufacturing, marketing, advertising and sales of cigarettes, among other topics.

With the exception of certain materials, such as oversized documents and other non-standard media and certain documents protected from disclosure by court order, and documents produced by Liggett Group, Inc., it is anticipated that almost all of the documents available to the public at the Minnesota Tobacco Document Depository will also be available to the public through the On-line document archives.
